The BOB Process

Popping Up in the Neighborhood

MEETING RESIDENTS WHERE THEY ARE

Beyond knocking on every door and sending out multiple mailers, we hosted three BOB Pop-Up events in Hazelwood so we could engage with neighbors and sign them up for free services. Residents were also encouraged to share their ideas—big and small—on how they envision a better community.

We’re grateful to the Taylor Blvd Save-a-Lot and Foxing Books for hosting us at their businesses!

Getting down & dirty

CLEANING THE STREETS & CLEARING THE SIDEWALKS

Thanks to the help of residents, Kicking Trash 502, and Louisville Metro’s Solid Waste Management Services, we spent a day picking up litter along the streets and alleyways, as well as trimmed back multiple large trees that were blocking pedestrians from using the sidewalk.

A small but mighty team collected 15 bags of trash and lots of large items, including a table, tire, and grocery cart.

BIG BOB DAY

A CELEBRATION OF HAZELWOOD

It was our first BIG BOB Day inside!

Residents were invited to party with BOB and dozens of community partners for BIG BOB DAY—a celebration of community and connection graciously hosted at Hazelwood Elementary School. BIG BOB DAY brought together neighbors, local organizations, and city departments for a day filled with free resources, city services, and activities for all ages, including:

  • Pet vaccine clinic & free pet food

  • Touch a Truck with Louisville Fire

  • Explore a TARC bus

  • Health screenings from UofL Health

  • Tree planting with Louisville Grows

  • Medication disposal

  • Meet & greet with local elected leaders

  • Voter registration, giveaways & more!

It was a wonderful day and out of this world event! Not only did we have a ton of people visit the resource fair, but Louisville Metro Animal Services hosted their LARGEST vaccine clinic EVER at BIG BOB Day in Hazelwood!
